The objective for Lean Facilitation Limited is to help businesses improve profitability, quality and customer satisfaction.
Andy Phillips started his working life as an apprentice electrician with British Rail Engineering Ltd., completing a four year apprenticeship before moving to a Marine Service Engineer role, repairing & servicing ships all around the world. Problem solving was the main skill developed over the three years.
A move to Ford Motor Company introduced Andy to industrial automation where he became an experienced maintenance technician and PLC software programmer. Stepping up to lead one of the automated Transit van body assembly lines he developed management skills and began learning & implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques in the early 1990s.
In 2004 Andy moved to BAA Heathrow, introducing lean manufacturing techniques into the airport operations and infrastructure. He managed a performance improvement team that implemented improvements to facilities management, security performance, airside & landside processes.
After 4 years a new position at Laing O'Rourke as Head of Lean Manufacturing was taken up. This challenging role focused on the introduction of lean techniques to the companies' global offsite manufacturing capability. As well as strategy setting and deployment, substantial cost, quality and delivery improvements were made. One of the factories was awarded 'Best Process Plant' in the 2010 'Best Factory Awards'.
